Introduction

ByteBuilder Technologies, LLC ("we", "us", or "our") operates the Excel Toolbox web application. This page informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of data when you use our service.

1. Your files stay on your device

Excel Toolbox processes every file locally, inside your own web browser. Your spreadsheets are never uploaded to us or to anyone else, we never receive their contents, and we do not store copies of them. Once a page has loaded, the tools continue to work even with no internet connection.

2. Information we collect

We do not ask you to create an account and we do not collect your name, address or any other personal detail, with one exception: if you choose to submit the "Suggest a Tool" form and enter your email address, we receive what you type in that form. Providing an email address there is optional.

3. Analytics and cookies

We use Google Analytics, loaded through Google Tag Manager, to understand how the site is used so we can improve it. It collects limited, anonymized information:

  • Page views: which pages you visit and the referring page you arrived from
  • Scroll depth: how far down a page visitors read
  • Tool usage events: which tool was run, whether it succeeded or failed, how long it took, and a rough size band for the file. These events never include your file names or any of your file's contents.

Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser to tell one visit from another. These are analytics cookies rather than strictly necessary ones, and they contain a randomly generated identifier, not your identity. Aside from these, Excel Toolbox sets no cookies of its own and uses no advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

You can opt out of Google Analytics with the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, or by blocking analytics cookies with your browser or an extension. The tools themselves work exactly the same either way.

4. Third-party services

The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages, which processes standard request information such as your IP address in order to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics are described above. We do not display third-party advertising and we do not sell or share data with data brokers.

5. Changes to this policy

ByteBuilder Technologies, LLC reserves the right to update this privacy policy at any time. We will notify users of any material changes by posting the new privacy policy on this page and updating the date above.

6. Trademark disclaimer

Excel Toolbox is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or in any way officially connected with Microsoft Corporation or any of its subsidiaries or affiliates. Excel® is a registered trademark of Microsoft Corporation. The name "Excel" as used in Excel Toolbox is for identification purposes only and is used in a nominative manner to describe compatibility with Microsoft Excel files.
